Promoting Children and Young People's Right to Play in Scotland
Play Scotland works to promote the importance of play for all children and young people, and campaigns to create increased play opportunities in the community.
The work of Play Scotland is underpinned by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child Article 31: "State parties recognise the right of every child to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child and to participate freely in cultural life and the arts"
Membership organisation and funded by the Scottish Government.

Play Scotland Celebrates 20 years of Article 31
To celebrate 20 years of Children's Rights in Scotland on 16 December 2011, we asked children to design a birthday card. We were overwhelmed with over 900 entries being received, the youngest entrant only being 10 months old!
In 1991 the UK Government signed up to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. There are 42 articles which set out Rights that Children are entitled to.
Article 31 states that "all children have a right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of activities"
We would like to thank everyone who entered for their fabulous drawings.
